Pale Horse Designs, Inc. was founded in February of 1998.    Our mission since day one has been to provide superior quality competition apparel to the equine industry at the best possible value.  Our products feature performance materials enhanced by Superior workmanship and attention to detail backed by a 100% quality and performance guarantee.

My experience in the show ring spearheaded my desire to enter the equestrian apparel Industry as early as 1997.   As a competitor and consumer, I was dissatisfied with the array of product available in the competition show shirt category.  The well price shirts were poorly made and the well made shirts with interesting design and fabrics were priced well over $100.  Somehow, I felt that there must be some middle ground……  My 20 years of experience in the fashion retail industry and my recent experiences in product management and development gave me the tools and the factory contacts to try to produce the ideal, well priced, well made riding shirt that was lacking in the industry.   

It took me one year to develop the fit specifications that you see on this website.  I competed in every show shirt on the market, made note of what the positive features and product drawbacks of each of the garments.  I took this information to a shirt manufacturer in Bangalore, India and produced the hybrid shirt.  Our first shirts hit the market in 1998 and we have been a player in the Industry since.

We carefully select performance fabrics from the best suppliers in the world market.  Our focus is to give easy care  performance fabrics that offer the look of elegance in the show ring.  Our primary fabrics are Cool Max by Invista, cool long Staple Egyptian cottons and easy care durable poly/cotton blends.  We color match all of our buttons, threads and detailed embroideries, satins, etc to enhance the product.  All of our garments are hand tailored  with single needle stitching without exception.  We supplement our product with details that you can’t see, but enhance performance and wear such as lock stitched and cross stitched buttons, 16 stitches per inch, closed French seam construction.  All of our shirts are made with the same specifications enhancing the value of all price points offered.

Our products are produced in factories in Chennai, a city in South East India, world famous for its “Bollywood” movie connection, but also important for its fine tailoring in the woven cotton garment category and its highly developed leather goods industry. 

Prior to becoming a factory for Pale Horse Designs, each factory is carefully inspected and regulated for human rights issues, child labor, good working conditions etc..  Without comfortable employees making reasonable wages and working in clean and healthy conditions, it is not possible to produce such an excellent product. 

Pale Horse Designs, Inc. established an office in Chennai, India and hired a team of experienced quality inspectors in 2001. Our inspection process does not simply focus on checking 15% of the finished garments, as is the normal inspection process for most importers. We start at the beginning.  We inspect materials prior to them ever being cut or utilized.  Our inspectors work in the production lines and try to root out and solve problems before costly materials are wasted through errors.  We conduct a 100% inspection of every garment and every accessory that we produce.  This sets us apart from virtually all of our competitors.  The most important part of the formula for value is quality control.

We are also active in the South Indian Equestrian Association and maintain a team of competition horses who travel to events throughout South India.   Whenever I find the time, I try to join in and promote the sport by judging and promoting equitation classes to improve the riding quality and safety during competitions.  It is a fledgling sport in India, but with prosperity and emergence of the middle class the number of competitive riders continues to grow.
